What are the hours of operation for the Repair Shop?

We are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday - Friday.

Is it cheaper to purchase new parts to repair my computer or to buy a new system?

This will depend on the age of the system and the severity of the issue. Before we perform any repair, we always evaluate the system first to determine an appropriate course of action.

 

How much does a repair cost?

Students receive 3 FREE repairs each semester on a personal laptop or desktop. Therefore, all labor, expert advice, and technical support are free of charge. However, the customer is responsible for purchasing and supplying any parts that are required for their repair.

For Faculty and Staff who are looking to have a personal device repaired, we are here to help! All Faculty and Staff are able to bring a personal device in for repairs, but there is a $50 charge for that service as well.

 

Do you service Apple computers?

Yes. We service Apple desktops, laptops, tablets, and cellphones.

 

How long do repairs take?

Since no two computers are the same, each repair is unique. Even though we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, some systems may have a shorter completion time than others.

 

How do I hook up my console to the wireless and wired networks on campus?

To connect your device to the school network you will first need to use a computer to register that device at http://lbra02.columbusstate.edu/registration/index-registration.jsp. When filling out the form, be sure to enter the correct information for the intended device. Once you have finished the registration process, you may connect your device to the internet by using an Ethernet cable and plugging it directly into the wall port. Please keep in mind that device registrations may take several hours to process.

I am unable to connect to the network on my device.

  • Check to ensure that your device is working properly by attempting to connect in another room or building if possible.
  • If you are using an Ethernet cable then try connecting with a different cable.
  • Make sure that your computer does not have any firewall or anti-virus settings that may be preventing you from connecting.
  • Check to ensure that your device's Wi-Fi is turned on.
  • If you are connecting with a cable or console, make sure that your device is registered.
